THE SIGNAL #017: THE BILL

THE WEEK
Last issue we said the market pays for proof and discounts promises. This week it sharpened the rule: it pays for proof, and it charges for capacity.
Five names on the board reported. Four of them beat, raised guidance, and got docked anyway, and the deduction was the same line every time: capital spending. General Dynamics flagged a heavier capex second half and drifted lower. L3Harris beat everything and fell hard on its investment program and a delayed IPO. Carpenter printed a record year and lost five percent on a small revenue miss. BWX Technologies raised all four guides and slipped after hours on a capacity-spend margin trim. One name broke the pattern: Huntington Ingalls, the most doubted stock on the board, beat by 37 percent, raised its margins, and got paid.
The same week, the demand behind all that spending became signed paper. Lockheed Martin landed the largest Patriot contract in history, up to $58.62 billion over seven years. Huntington Ingalls booked a $76.6 billion submarine award. The order and the bill arrived together.
One more thing has a date on it: every PURSUE release so far has landed on a Friday, and the pattern puts the fifth tranche window open as of this Friday, August 7. Below: the bill with verified prices, the tranche clock, the prediction-market read, and all seven open calls. Prices are as of the August 3 session unless labeled otherwise.
THE BILL
The sector’s customers signed the contracts this week. The market started reading the invoices.
