The war, the power of the energy structure, the strength around the globe all has to do with energy monopoly, logistics, and tribe. Those three things being equal, which fusion energy, friction free/or not affected by gravity movement, and seeing all of earth as one species combined versus a bunch of little tribes, which would definitely happen if we met Life forms that were not like us, would collapse power structures around the world instantly.

One might think what with the current US administration not seeming all that concerned about Russian giving satellite images to Iran which may have resulted in the death or wounding of our troops and the firing of so many counter-intelligence personnel that it's not that far of a stretch to think a foreign adversary like Russia might want to disappear or even capture these folks? If Japan had an inkling of something like that it would make sense it would be a big concern for them as well.
